If you do not have a laptop, doodling on paper can be a great way to stay awake and active during class. Not only does it look like you are taking notes, but doodling is entertaining and mentally stimulating.
Make a To-Do List
Making your personal to-do list during class is a great use of time. Prioritize your tasks and create different lists for different responsibilities. Making your schedule for the rest of the day is also an option.
Do Other Homework
Especially if you have not finished work or required readings for a later class, a boring class is an ideal time to finish this work. You are still occupying your mind and being productive with academic work.

Boring classes are a great time to check your Facebook and Twitter accounts. Getting updated on your friend's birthdays, statuses and current happenings frees up time later to focus in another class or get more work done.
Text a Friend
Texting can be done under a table or behind a large stack of books while in class. Boring classes provide time to catch up with friends or solidify dinner plans.
