Things You'll Need
Instructions
Draw a pond on a large single sheet of paper with colored markers. Use several smaller pieces of paper taped together, if necessary, to create a pond if a large piece of paper is not available. Draw a pond, dock, trees, weeds and other features to add interest and detail.
Draw pictures of various types of fish on paper with markers. Make the fish realistic or silly and cut them out. Tape a paper clip onto the back of the fish with tape.
Choose a short wooden dowel or use short branches collected from around the yard for fishing poles. Select a dowel or branch that is at least 2 to 3 feet long or longer, based on personal preference and the age of children using the game.
Tie a length of string to the end of the dowel or branch. As a general guideline, use a length of string that is about the same length as the dowel or branch. Tie the string with a simple double overhand knot. Place a piece of string around the knot to help hold it in place.
Tie a small magnet onto the end of the string with a double overhand knot or use tape to attach it the string.
Place the fish in the pond with the paper clip side down. Have children hold the fishing pole and use the magnet to connect with the paper clip and "catch" fish.
