Rubber Chicken Games

Rubber chickens are a pinnacle of humor and have been used in comedy sketches, movies and practical jokes. They also make a great goofy prop to use while playing games. Both kids and adults get a kick out of playing with the rubber chicken. Rubber chickens are an affordable game accessory and you can find them at most department stores.
  1. Duck-Duck-Chicken

    • Duck-Duck-Chicken is just like the classic duck-duck-goose but with a rubber chicken spin. Choose a player to be "it." This person circles a group seated on the floor and gently taps each person on the head with the rubber chicken. To select someone else to be the chicken, the "it" person must say "chicken" and drop the rubber chicken in the other player's lap. That player now has to grab the chicken and chase the other player around the circle. To avoid being "it," the second player must beat player one back to the seat or hit her with the rubber chicken. The first one to the seat without the rubber chicken wins and the other is now "it."

    Chicken Coup Detective

    • Players stand in a tight circle with their shoulders touching. One player, the detective, stands in the center of the circle with his eyes closed. Everyone sings the "chicken dance" song and passes the rubber chicken behind the back to the next person. The detective yells "Stop!" and everyone must stay still and stop singing. The detective has three chances to guess who has the chicken. If he guesses correctly, the person with the chicken is now the detective. A person is detective until he correctly guesses who has the chicken and another player takes his spot.

    Chicken Coup

    • This game is best if you are playing with 10 or more people. Divide players into four to six even teams and have them sit in rows. One player has to be "it." The "it" player stands in front of the teams with the rubber chicken and says a description, for example, "everyone with brown hair" or "everyone with glasses." Players to which the statement applies stand up and quickly look for an empty seat. The player in the front drops the rubber chicken and tries to find a seat while other players are trading places. The person without a seat is now "it" and goes to the front to pick up the rubber chicken and repeat.

    Chicken Nests

    • You need an even number of players for this game. Two people must be elected to be "it" and start the game. One will hold the rubber chicken and the other will be chased by the rubber chicken. The other players pair up and link arms to create their "nests." The "it" player chases the single player around, trying to tap her with the rubber chicken. If the free person links arms with someone in a chicken nest, the other half of the chicken nest is now the free player and must run from the rubber chicken. Players in a nest are safe from being tapped by the rubber chicken but only two players are allowed in a chicken nest at a time. If the free player is hit with the chicken, he is now it.

    Rubber Chicken Whip

    • Rubber Chicken Whip is an ice-breaker game that helps players learn names of the other players. The group sits in a circle with one person in the middle holding the rubber chicken. The player in the middle shouts the name of someone in the circle. That person must stand up and say the names of the two people sitting next to him before the person in the middle hits him with the rubber chicken. If he is hit with the rubber chicken before saying the names, he must go to the center. If the person gets the names right, the same person stays in the center with the rubber chicken and repeats. When throwing the rubber chicken, aim below the knee to avoid injury.
