Movie Star Icebreaker Games

People in groups play icebreaker games to help them feel comfortable with one another. Icebreakers can create a positive atmosphere, allow people to get to know each other, motivate a group and elevate a group's energy level. Movie star icebreaker games that you can play for a party, school or workshop are simply variations of popular games.
  1. Hang Man

    • Play a game of "Hang Man" as an icebreaker by dividing group members into two teams. Prepare a list of names of movie stars that each group has to guess. Draw the number of lines corresponding to the number of letters in the actor's name on the blackboard and toss a coin to see which team gets to guess the first letter. If a team isn't able to guess a letter, the other team gets a chance. Allow each member of both teams a chance to guess a letter by playing multiple games. Teams work together by talking over what letter to choose next and solving the puzzle together.

    Who am I?

    • Tape the name of a movie actor on the back of each participant, labeling each person as an actor, without letting them know who they are. Each person has to guess the name of movie star written on his back. He'll have to interact with others in the group by asking others "yes" or "no" questions. He can ask the same person another question if he gets "yes" as an answer, but must move on to ask someone else another question if he gets "no" as an answer. The game ends when everyone in the group correctly figures out who they are.

    Celebrity Charades

    • The game of charades involves acting out words without saying anything out loud and having players guess the word you are acting out. In the celebrity version, teams will be guessing the names of movie stars. Write down a list of celebrity names on individual pieces of paper. Divide the group into two teams. A person on the team that starts chooses a piece of paper with the name of a movie star written on it. That person's team will try to guess the name correctly within a given time. If they don't guess correctly, the other team gets a chance to steal. If the other team guesses correctly, they get a point. Each team takes turns playing until everyone gets a chance to act out a celebrity. The team with the most points wins.

    Movie Star Couples

    • "Movie Star Couples" is similar to the "Who am I" icebreaker but with a twist. Make a list of movie star couples, either real-life couples or movie character couples, such as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie or Alladin and Princess Jasmine. Tape the name of a movie actor or character on the back of each participant without letting them know who they are. Group members interact with others in the group by asking others "yes" or "no" questions to find out who they are. The object of this icebreaker is for each group member to find out who she is so she can find her match.
