Ker Plunk Instructions

Ker Plunk, a game geared for kids ages five and older, has been around for over 35 years. The game is played by pulling sticks that are holding a group of marbles in place one-by-one, while trying to not let the marbles fall down. While this game can be entertaining, according to the Occupational Therapy Association, it can also build coordination, visual perception and problem solving skills for children.

Instructions

    • 1

Set up the game. To do this, you need to place the bottom half of the game tube into the game base. Then, using the section that contains holes, connect the base tube to the top tube with the hole-filled section in between the two. To determine which is the top and bottom tube, note that the top one only has one small opening on the end, where as the bottom will have one opening on the side.

    • 2

Insert sticks into the center tube piece that has several holes. Be sure the sticks go all the way through the hole on the opposite side of the tube to ensure the stick is stable.

    • 3

Add marbles into the top section of the tube. Only do this once until all the sticks are in place.

    • 4

Decide which player, up to four of which can play, will go first. The game base will have a number that will correspond with the players' order.

    • 5

Rotate the opening on the side of the tube base to match up with your base compartment when it's your turn. For example, if you're player number two, the opening should be facing the base compartment that has a two in it.

    • 6

Choose a stick to pull out. The object of the game is not to let any marbles drop. Eventually, close to the end of the game, this will be impossible. The fewer marbles you have in your compartment, the better chance you have of winning.

    • 7

Continue playing, taking turns until all of the marbles have fallen. The player with the least amount of marbles in his compartment wins the game.
