Best Side Dish for Fried Chicken
Hold a contest in which each person at your home must fix a good side dish for the fried chicken you cook. To make it interesting, give each person a bag of random ingredients to prepare the dishes with, and give them 30 minutes to fix the dishes. Judge each side dish and the winner of the best dish gets to choose the dessert.
Fried Chicken Trivia Game
Another fun idea is to have a trivia game in which you test family members' knowledge of fried chicken's history and influence on American culinary traditions. You can ask 10 to 15 questions on this topic and the family member who gets the most questions right gets a chicken-related graphic T-shirt.
Poetry Contest About Fried Chicken
If you have some teenagers over for dinner and you're serving fried chicken, have a contest in which each teen recites a short poem about how they enjoy fried chicken. Judge each poem and the winner with the best poem gets a cookbook with easy-to-make recipes.
Fried Chicken Recipe Contest
If you plan to write a book of family recipes, you can hold a contest in which you ask five of your relatives and friends to prepare their fried chicken recipes for you to taste and judge. Choose the top two best recipes and these can be featured in the recipe book.
