Building Block Game
Building block games such as "Jenga" are fun and quick games to play to pass time. Players have to remove blocks from a tall tower and place them back at the top without causing the tower to topple. Although the game is simple at its core, it is possible to play the game strategically. The element of competition adds a layer of suspense to proceedings and as many as four people can join in.
Slapjacks
Slapjacks, or Snap, is the first card game that some people learn to play as children and as such it manages to maintain its sense of fun even in adulthood. A deck of cards is dealt out among all players and they must discard their cards one at a time in turns onto the central pile. When a pair appears the players must each try to be the first to slap the deck. Whoever was the first one to slap the deck collects all of the cards from the central deck, shuffle them, and add them to the bottom of his own deck. The winner is the player who ends up with all the cards. The game is intended to be over quickly and so it's the perfect game to pass a few minutes.
WarioWare Video Game
The WarioWare series of video games are comprised of hundreds of microgames -- games which the player has between three and five seconds to complete. One of the most recent additions to the franchise is "WarioWare: Touched" which is available for the Nintendo DS. The rapid-fire nature of the game keeps you on your toes and as the microgames are so brief you can pick up the game, play it for five minutes and have completed tens of levels in that time.
