Karaoke Revolution, created by Konami, is a video game designed for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. With more than 250 licensed tracks, Karaoke Revolution allows you to sing these various songs while your character performs in a series of customizable venues. You can choose from a selection of pre-made characters or design your own character. The game consists of two modes, Party Mode, which allows you to play with up to 15 friends, and Career Mode. In Career Mode, you are faced with a series of challenges and skills that help you unlock new venues and songs. The more accurate your vocals are with respect to pitch and key, the further you will advance in your virtual career path. The object of party mode simply is to compete with others to determine the best singer. You and your friends can pick from a variety of songs and sing individually or in a group.
Gong Karaoke
This game is designed to reward the best singers in your group of friends. Grab a karaoke machine and choose a friend to start singing. Select a panel of judges to sit and rate the karaoke performance. If the performance gets too bad, the judges ring a bell and cut the music, sending the next singer on the stage. The goal of the game is to get through your entire song without being cut off by the judges. While this game is partial to talented singers, you can even the playing field by allowing mediocre singers to earn points by being entertaining in additional ways. Whether it is picking an unusual song or doing a creative dance while singing, friends who are weaker singers can earn additional points in this manner.
Karaoke Relay
This games is designed to test your rhythm as well as your ability to work in a team. Choose a few partners and turn on a song. Take turns singing the song, rotating on verses and singing in conjunction on the choruses. Have a group of judges rate your rhythm and accuracy as well as your ability to sing as a unit. This relay allows all of your friends to get involved in a song simultaneously.
Karaoke Roulette
This variation of Karaoke forces you and your friends to be pay attention between songs. Start by having each person in your group write his name down on a small piece of paper. Put all the names in a bowl and shake them up. Pick a song and then select a player at random to sing the song. In addition to keeping your friends engaged in the game, it also allows you to hear people sing songs they would not normally attempt.
