Group-Setting Identification Games

• Scan various settings and identify birds in games like "Rook's Binocular Birdwatch," found at The Royal Society For the Protection of Birds. When Rook asks to find a particular bird, use the mouse to move the binoculars and view a group of birds in garden, playground and park settings. Click birds to identify them and score 1 point for getting it right on the first try. Advance to the next setting after correctly identifying all birds.

Matching Identification Games

• Put a bird spin on the classic Bingo game and learn to identify birds in "Birdingo," accessible at Birdzilla. The game, which requires players to register a free account before playing, uses birds rather than numbers and provides written and visual representations for each bird. When Professor Bird calls birds whose photos appear on the bingo card, click the corresponding spaces. Click "Birdingo" upon clicking five squares that run horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Photo Identification Games

• Search, find and identify birds in "Swarovski Optik Birdinggame" accessible at Swarovski Optik. After selecting a habitat and level of difficulty, use the mouse to pan the habitat and look for moving bird symbols. Click the symbols and choose the correct name for the bird in the photo. Respond quickly to earn maximum points for correct answers. Click "Limit Answers" to remove three incorrect answers, or "Birdbook" to view images of all the choices. Performing either of the latter actions give players fewer points for correct answers. Identify birds in a similar manner in "What's That Bird?" found at the University of Delaware site. Video Identification Games

• Watch videos to identify birds in "BirdID," found at Cornell University's Lab of Ornithology site. Choose to identify all birds, Eastern or Western birds, or specific bird types. To play with simple clues, select "Video &Sounds" and "Males Only." For more advanced clues, choose "Sounds Only" and "Males &Females." Players also may play the game using one simple-clue type and one advanced-clue type. After seeing or hearing a clue, type the name of the bird in the box and click "Check Answer." Identify birds in a game show setting in "Professor Bird's Wild Bird Game Show: Avian Challenge I," accessible at Birdzilla. Watch videos and click the correct name of the bird. Answer 10 questions and advance to the second round, which consists of non-video questions.
