Fun Gardening Games

If your child likes gardens, caterpillars and ladybugs, throw her an unforgettable botanical garden bash she will remember for years to come. Include a few garden games for the guests to keep them busy and involved in the party. With a few supplies, your imagination and enthusiastic players, you have all you need to create fun garden games.
  1. Watering Can Race

    • Divide the players into two teams and have them line up at a starting line. Place a large bucket of water at the starting line and two watering cans at another line about 20 feet away. Give the first player in each team line a plastic cup. When you say, "Go," the players must fill their cup up with water from the large bucket and run to pour it in their team watering cans. After they run the cups to the next players in their team lines, they must do the same thing. The first team to fill up their watering can wins the game.

    What Am I?

    • Tape a flower or vegetable seed packet picture on the back of each party guest. The players must walk around asking other players yes or no questions about their picture. The first player to guess what flower or vegetable he is wins the game. Keep playing the games until everyone guesses what she is.

    Caterpillar Race

    • Split the players into two teams and have each team stand in a single file line. Tell the players to place their hands on the shoulders of the player in front of them. Mark a starting line and finish line about 25 feet apart. When you say, "Go," the players must race to the finish line. If any player's hands come off the shoulders of the player in front of him, he must start over at the finish line. The first "caterpillar" to cross the finish line wins the race.

    Dirt Relay Race

    • Mark a starting line and finish line about 20 feet from each other. Place a large pile of dirt at the finish line. Divide the players into two teams and have them line up at the starting line. Give each team a flowerpot and small kid-safe shovel. Have them place their flowerpot at the starting line. When you say, "Fill that pot," the first two players in line must race to the pile of dirt, fill the shovel and run back to put it in their team flowerpot. Give the next player in line the shovel and she must do the same thing. The first team to fill up their flowerpot with dirt wins the game.
