Darts
A wall-mounted game that originated in the United Kingdom, darts is now popular across the world, with dartboards adorning many a game room and bar. You'll need a clear area in front of the dartboard that's 11 feet long-by-5 feet wide to play the game properly. This provides enough room for error around the circular wall-mounted dartboard and a long enough distance to incorporate the correct distance that the throw line should be from the board, which is 7 feet, 9 1/4 inches. Players get three darts each per turn and are scored according to where on the dartboard their darts land, as each area of the dartboard corresponds to a different score. The game usually continues for five rounds, after which the player with the highest score wins. For children, there are safe toy dartboards made from magnets or Velcro.
Basketball Games
There are various indoor wall-mounted basketball games, from a simple net that attaches to a wall to a wooden wall-mounted, fold-out basketball game. The wall-mounted game looks like a small cupboard attached to the wall and extends out just 6 inches. The game has a 72-inch net that safely captures basketballs, reducing the risk of them damaging anything in the house. This game also has an electronic scoring system for players to accurately compete against each other.
Wall Football
Fantastic for kids, wall football follows a similar concept to "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" -- all you need are some pieces of cardboard, poster tacks and a blindfold, together with a space on a wall. Cut out some cardboard into the shape of a goal. The uprights and the crossbar should each be 20 inches long and the post should be 6 inches tall. Stick it to the wall using poster tack. Cut out some more cardboard into the shape of footballs, each about 5 inches long; cut out as many footballs as there are players. Give each player a cardboard football with his name on it. The players can decorate their footballs with markers or crayons if they want to. Put a bit of poster tack on the back of each football, blindfold one player at a time and spin him around three times before he takes his turn at trying to stick his football in between the uprights. Play several rounds and award three points for each field goal. The player with the highest score wins.
Straight Up Chess
While the traditional, horizontal game of chess has been around for centuries, the wall-mounted version of the game is a fairly new development. Straight Up Chess is a vertical chessboard made out of wood, with narrow acrylic shelves to mark each square and to house the chess pieces. Straight Up Chess eliminates the need for table space, as well as the need to clear away a half-finished table game if you need the table before someone is check-mated. In addition to its space-saving entertainment value, it also serves as stylish home decor.
