Memory Test
Test the preteens' and teens' memory skills by filling a tray with random items, such as an apple, a set of keys, a baby bib, a hairbrush, a letter block, a candle and a small plastic animal. Have the players sit in a circle and place the tray in the middle of the circle for 30 seconds. Remove the tray from the circle and take it out of the room. Hand everyone a sheet of paper and a pen. Tell the players to write down as many things as they can remember from the tray. The player who names the most correct items from the tray wins a prize.
Famous Pairs
Write the names of several famous pairs on different index cards like Willy Wonka and Charlie, Peter Pan and Wendy, Fred and Wilma Flintstone and Barbie and Ken. Tape one character to the back of each player with tape. The players have to mingle by asking yes or no questions about their character until they find their match. The first couple that correctly pairs up wins the game. Keep playing until each person finds her match.
Tomato Paste Game
For a messy outdoor game, you need several tubes of tomato paste and small paper cups. Have each player choose a partner and place two chairs on a tarp or old cloth. Two teams will compete against each other at a time. One player has to lie ion the floor with her head by the chair legs and the other player takes a tube of tomato paste and stands on the chair. The players on the floor must hold the paper cup over their mouths. When you say "Go," the players on the chairs have to squirt the tomato paste into the cups of the players on the floor. The team with the most tomato paste in the cup at the end of the game wins. Award a small prize to the winners of each heat.
Communication Lines
Have all the preteens and teens gather in a room and tell them they have to line up in order by birthday. The only catch is they cannot talk while placing themselves in order. They must communicate by using their hands and body language to figure out the correct order. Other ways you can have them line up include height, hair length and age.
