Human Knot
The human knot is a leadership and communication skills game that involves human contact and close proximity to peers. Before you play this game, explain what it is to your employees and make sure everyone is okay with the details. To start, tell your employees to stand in a circle. They will reach across the circle and grasp one hand of the person in front of them, while holding onto someone else's hand with their other free hand. With some maneuvering and intertwining everyone becomes entangled. The goal of the game is for the employees to strategize a way out of the human knot without letting go of each others' hands. As people come up with good ideas for moving one way or another, they must communicate the ideas to the group. The more people you play the game with, the larger the knot is.
Company Jeopardy
It is probable that all of your employees know how to play the trivia game Jeopardy, so this game will need very little explanation. Company Jeopardy is just like the real deal, except instead of questions about art and science, the trivia questions are geared toward company info and facts, such as "in what year did the company go public" and "name all of the company locations in alphabetical order." Divide employees into teams that compete against one another for the grand prize -- a gift basket full of goodies for them to share. Not only is this game exciting to play, it also helps the newer employees learn about the company.
HA!
HA! is a game that requires employees to lie on the floor next to one another, head-to-toe, like sardines in a can. The first person says HA! and the second person next to him must say HA-HA! The third person says HA-HA-HA! And so on. The object of the game is for people to keep this up with a straight face and no giggling. The giggling, however, is nearly impossible to control and avoid in this game. Gigglers are to be removed from the row, and the remaining employees must squish closer together to fill in the gaps. Continue playing the game and increasing the number of HA's until only one player remains.
Scavenger Hunt
A scavenger hunt is a game that requires teams of employees to work together to find particular items throughout the office before the other teams get to them. However, instead of giving the teams the entire list of items up front, assign them one item at a time. Each time a team finds an item, reward them with a clue to the whereabouts of the next item on the scavenger list. The game encourages players to strategize in order to find their items efficiently. You can make this game more or less complex, depending on how long you want the game to go on.
