Invitations
Make special credit card-shaped invitations for your mall scavenger hunt. For an all-girl scavenger hunt, write "DIVA" instead of the "VISA" logo on the corner of the card. Write the party details on the back of the card. Write the guest's name on the front of the card with the date of the party. Laminate the cards and then slip into inexpensive wallets or dollar store purses.
Another invitation idea is to create a simple map outline of the mall. Draw a red X on the meeting spot, such as the front entrance or food court. Write the question, "Will you be here?", instead of "You are here", and include RSVP information and the details of the party in the map key.
Information Scavenger Hunt
Set up a scavenger hunt for mall-lovers to test their knowledge and skill. Have a list of mall facts for kids to discover. List things such as asking how many booths there are in the food court or how many stairs there are in the mall. Have them take a survey of stores such as how many shoe stores are on the first floor, or which stores are on either side of Macy's. Find out what year was the mall built and which stores have the color orange in their display window.
Free Scavenger Hunt
Send guests on a quest to gather a list of free items. Take a survey of the mall the week before to see if the items are readily found. Consider items such as a take-out menu, piece of gift wrapping paper, coupon, price tag, perfume sample and business cards. Some items can be found on their own, others need the scavengers to ask a store salesperson. Give extra points for autographs from salespeople and security guards.
Digital or Video Camera Scavenger Hunt
If digital cameras or video cameras are allowed in the mall, set up a scavenger hunt that requires teams to document different situations they can do in the mall. Ideas include a video tape of team members saluting or applauding people as they walk out of The Gap, or piling the whole team on an indoor train ride or in the play area of a the mall. Show team members shaking hands with a mall security guard, or have the whole team washing hands in the same bathroom sink, or standing under the mall clock at a specific time.
