Food and Libations
One of the most distinctive (and arguably the most enjoyable) aspects of Christmas is the traditional holiday food that emerges around this time of year. It seems that every culture has their signature dishes and desserts that herald the onset of the Christmas season. You might recognize such delicacies as gingerbread people, gum drops, candy canes, hot chocolate, eggnog, buttered rum, fruitcake and peppermint bark. Quiz your guests on the highly anticipated treats of the season. (Example question: This hot mulled cider is traditionally found at medieval themed holiday parties. Answer: Wassail.)
Christmas Movies
Many families' Christmastime rituals involve sitting around the television and watching such traditional holiday classics as "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "A Christmas Story." Your guests, especially the children, will delight in one-upping each other in their knowledge of Christmas pop culture. (Example question: This American actor played George Bailey in the classic Christmas movie "It's a Wonderful Life." Answer: Jimmy Stewart.)
Music of the Season
One of the most recognizable signs that the Christmas season has begun is the music. The landscape of popular music is transformed beginning the day after Thanksgiving and lasts right through New Year's Eve. In every shopping center and on every radio station you exclusively hear traditional Christmas carols sung by Perry Como and Nat King Cole, alongside such modern Christmas classics as "Last Christmas" by Wham! and Madonna's "Santa Baby." Include musical trivia in your game. (Example question: Frosty the Snowman had this kind of pipe. Answer: Corn cob.)
