High School Carnival Activities and Ideas

A school carnival is a great way for high school students to raise money. Whether it's for new uniforms, books or to improve facilities, a carnival generates money in a way where everyone from the students to the parents and teachers can get involved. With entertainment, activities and games in a school carnival, it won't be difficult to get students interested in participating.
  1. Entertainment

    • A high school carnival can have forms of entertainment such as a talent show, fortune teller or haunted house. The talent show can be centered around a specific theme, such as team spirit or anything else that the students can come up with. Hire a fortune teller for the duration of the carnival so students can listen to their futures be told. A spooky haunted house is always entertaining in carnivals, and students can volunteer to scare other students.

    Sports Games

    • Students can play variations of sports games like archery, basketball, football and darts. The object of the archery game could be to pop a balloon at the center of the target. In the basketball toss games, players shoot as many baskets as they can in a given time. Instead of an actual football game, students can try their luck at throwing a football through a hole. In the game of darts, students try to pop a specific balloon color surrounded by other colored balloons on a wall.

    Challenging Games

    • Carnivals are always full of challenging games for people of all ages. Some of these games that high school students enjoy include the ring toss, break a plate, bucket toss and pie toss. In the ring toss, students try to land a small ring around the neck of a bottle. They are given rubber baseballs and break plates lined up against a wall in break a plate. You're given three or five ping pong balls that you have to try to land inside a bucket in bucket toss. Faculty members volunteer as targets in pie toss, where students throw pies full of whipped cream at them.

    Relay Races

    • Relay races allow students to work with one another to complete a task, fostering teamwork. Students can participate in different relay races in carnivals. In the potato sack race, students race from one end to the other by hopping in a potato sack. In the dress-up relay race, teams race to put on a pile of clothes at the opposite end of the line as fast as possible. Students use a spoon either held by hand or in the mouth and place an egg on the spoon for the egg relay.
