Dimensions
When shuffleboard began, the table stretched 30 feet long. The length steadily declined and today, the standard length for a tournament shuffleboard table is 22 feet. People installing a shuffleboard at home will likely have to get a smaller table to fit in a recreation room. Tables ranging from 9 feet to 14 feet are also common. The shuffleboard table also stands about 30 inches tall and 20 inches wide.
Materials
A shuffleboard table is made from polished wood, typically maple wood, however, oak and mahogany are acceptable substitutes. A synthetic, plastic laminate coating is placed on top of the wood. This protects the table from damage. With these materials in place, the board is coated with one of a variety of waxes. Different waxes produce different speeds, giving players the opportunity to control the quickness of the discs. The wax should be applied monthly for best results.
