Fun Games for People 13 or Older

Young teenagers enjoy playing games with more complicated rules and strategy. When planning a party or gathering for people over the age of 13, be sure to plan fun games that will pique their interest and prevent boredom. Indoor and outdoor games provide exercise for teenagers, as well as build their social skills and give them a chance to meet new friends.
  1. Potato Chip Testing

    • Purchase five different bags of flavored potato chips like barbecue, sour cream and onion, cheddar and regular. Blindfold one player at a time and hand him a chip to taste. Have him test all five chips and try to guess what flavor each chip is. The players who identify all the flavors win a prize. If no players can identify all five chip flavors, award a prize to the player who got the most correct.

    Picture Back Drawings

    • Have all the players select a partner. Write down several items, such as a smiley face, a key, a house and a sun, on small slips of paper and place them in a bowl. One player has to draw a slip of paper from the bowl and draw the item on her partner's back. She has one minute to continue to draw the item, while her partner has to guess what she is drawing. If she answers correctly in one minute, they earn a point. The first team to earn five points wins the game.

    Rattle Catch

    • Make a rattle using an empty chip container or soda bottle and fill it with dry beans. If you do not have dry beans, you can fill it with uncooked rice. Select one player to be "it" and have all the players stand in a circle. Blindfold "it" and have him stand in the middle of the circle. Hand the rattle to one of the players in the circle. When you say, "Shake," the player with the rattle has to shake it and pass it to the next player in the circle. Each player has to shake and pass the rattle. "It" has to move around the circle listening for the rattle. The player "it" touches with the rattle when he finds it, is the "it" for the next round.

    Homemade Basketball Relay

    • Divide the players into teams of five or six players and have them line up at a starting line. Place a tall laundry basket in front of each team about 6 feet from the starting line. Give the first player in each line a soft foam ball. When you say, "Go," the players have to toss the ball into the laundry basket. If they miss, they have to run and get it to try again. After they make the ball, they run and get it to hand to the next player in line. The first team to score eight points wins the game.
