Disney Penguin Games

Walt Disney's catalog of classic animated titles may lack penguin-centric projects such as "Happy Feet" and "The Penguins of Madagascar," but Disney maintains a presence in the penguin market, thanks to endeavors such as the virtual-world "Club Penguin" site. Disney fans looking to engage in penguin activities can play games focusing on the flightless, waddling birds.
  1. Club Penguin

    • Kids enter a safe online penguin community at Disney's "Club Penguin" site. After creating a free membership, parents must verify kids' accounts. Once verified, kids choose a server and enter "Club Penguin." Kids navigate from area to area by moving their customized cartoon penguin avatar through pathways or clicking the map on the bottom left. To interact with other "penguins," kids click default messages at the bottom of the screen. Clicking "Actions" enables penguins to dance, wave hello or goodbye and sit down, and clicking "Snowball" lets them throw snowballs.

Players engage in single-player or multi-player activities and games, all located at different areas of the world. Locations include a beach, cove, dock, iceberg, mine, plaza pizza parlor, plaza pet shop, ski areas like Ski Hill and Ski Village, Snow Forts, town coffee shop and town night club. Games include "Bean Counters," "Dance Contest," "DJ3K," "Hydro Hopper," "Ice Fishing," "Jet Pack Adventure," "Mancala," "Pizzatron 3000," "Puffle Roundup" and "Thin Ice," among others. When playing games, kids earn coins that, with a full site membership, they may use to purchase virtual items.

    Club Penguin Video Games

    • Secret-agent missions and mysteries challenge players in Disney's "Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force," available for the Nintendo DS platform. As with the Club Penguin site, players create a penguin avatar and earn coins during game play. Players may transfer earned coins to their online account via a wireless connection. Aside from DS versions of games like "Ice Fishing" and "Jet Pack Adventure," "Elite Penguin Force" features new games like "Snowboarding." In the "Elite Penguin Force" sequel, "Herbert's Revenge," players embark on additional top-secret missions. In the Nintendo Wii title, "Club Penguin: Game Day," players vie for control of territories in team-based mini-games such as "Fast Freeze" and "Sumo Smash."

    Club Penguin Trading Card Game

    • Players leave behind the Club Penguin online and video game world to battle in Disney/Topps' "Club Penguin Trading Card Game." For "Quick Play," symbols determine winners, with water cards beating fire cards, fire beating snow and snow beating water. If both players have the same symbol, the higher number wins. No one wins if both players have the same symbol and number. The player winning the most battles wins the game. For "Standard Play," players compare symbols, but also follow "Power Card" instructions. Players win by collecting a set of three cards with the same symbol, or a set of three different-color cards with different symbols.

    Penguin Bounce 2K7

    • Penguins use a raft to bounce their way across the water in "Penguin Bounce 2K7," a non-"Club Penguin" game found at Disney Games. Starting with five lives, players use their mouse to move the yellow raft, catch penguins and try bouncing them across the water. With lobsters and sharks at bay, players move as quickly as possible. The game ends when players lose all of their lives.
