Baby Food
This simple and messy game is certain to generate howls of laughter from participants and spectators. Create teams by recruiting two pairs of volunteers. Give each participant a smock or apron to protect their clothing. Blindfold each participant and give each a spoon and a jar of applesauce. Each participant must attempt to feed their partner. The team that finishes eating first wins. Add drinks or real baby food to make the game even more interesting.
Hunter and Watchman
Similar to Capture the Flag, Hunter and Watchman requires a large backyard or other open space. One child is designated the hunter, another the watchman, and the rest are animals. Mark off a 10-foot circle. The guard must stay inside the circle, but is allowed to tag animals that get too close. The hunter attempts to tag animals lead them to the circle where they remain until the game ends. Animals being led to the circle may be rescued by being touched by other animals, which must be careful not to also get tagged.
Baby in the Air
This fun game requires a large ball and an open space. Assign each child a number. The oldest child throws the ball upwards and yells, "Baby in the air number ...," choosing the number of one of the other children. The picked child grabs the ball and yells, "freeze!" The child takes three steps before throwing the ball. If a child is hit they are given a "B." If the thrower misses they are given a "B." A player is out of the game when they are hit four times, spelling "BABY."
Sponge Relay
On a hot summer day water is a must for a fun outdoor game. A sponge relay requires two large buckets filled with water, two cups and two sponges. Form children into lines behind the buckets. The sponges are dipped in water and passed down the line over each participant's head. The last person squeezes the remaining water into the small cup and runs to the front of the line to start the process again. The first team to fill their cup wins.
