Motivational Games for Children

Motivational games suit the purpose of encouraging self-expression, building self-confidence and enabling youths the opportunity to make new friends and shape existing relationships. Play together as a family to ensure quality time or support kids' individual efforts to spend their private time exploring subject matter, ideas or concepts that potentially interest them. Games allow teachers, camp counselors and social activity leaders to integrate both shy as well as outgoing children into one cohesive group.
  1. Individual Benefits

    • Help children figure out individual taste, likes and dislikes in a fun, unobtrusive manner by encouraging them to play games that satiate personal curiosity when alone. For example, suggest to teenagers that they track their leisure time, then teach them about time management. Remind kids that time spent alone offers an ideal opportunity to allow their innate tendencies to blossom into full fruition strengthening their self-confidence.

    Teambuilding

    • Children often wrestle with the need to be recognized and appreciated for individual accomplishments while simultaneously feeling the desire to be included and accepted with a group of like-minded peers. Use motivational team games and activities to help build skills and tools necessary to boost their sense of independence so that they better navigate within group dynamics. Zig-Zag-Zop and Koosh Ball are two suitable examples. Enable kids to learn the importance of sharing group responsibility as well as the pleasure of celebrating together.

    Role-Playing

    • Encourage youths to participate in role-playing games to motivate them to gain insight into cultural differences as well as enable them to open their minds to perspectives fresh from their own. Support ideas such as boys pretending to do traditional girls' roles and girls to do boys'. These games also prove helpful to allow students to express excited or or pent-up frustrating feelings. Enable insecure kids to gain personal strength and confidence through self-expression.

    Building Interpersonal Skills

    • Motivational games allow young people to practice helpful communication and leadership skills. The ability to build a personal positive attitude, maintain it and share it with peers teaches children the benefits of being your own best role model. Cultivating tools that enrich that experience of sharing with others also serves to strengthen a child's confidence. Confident, capable individuals more easily learn how to focus on goals and work with others to accomplish them. Two applicable activities are Icebreaker: Special T-Shirt and Communication: Teamwork Exercise.
