Goldfish Games for Kids

Something about the bulging eyes and shiny scales of a goldfish make it an appealing subject, and often a take-home prize for kids' games. Goldfish games can be used for birthday parties, school carnivals or for fun at home. Goldfish games can be played independently, in teams or online.
  1. Pin the Eye on the Goldfish

    • This twist on the classic children's party game "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" is as easy to play as it is to make. Simply cut a large piece of construction paper or poster board into the shape of a goldfish. Paint the shape gold and draw details like scales or fins. Cut out a number of goldfish eyes so that each guest has one. Hang the fish securely on a wall. Each player takes a turn being blindfolded and attempting to attach the goldfish eye in the correct spot on the poster board.

    Goldfish Flip

    • In this game, kids take home a living goldfish as a prize. Collect six goldfish bowls and line them up. Give each player six ping pong balls. Players try to throw the balls into the empty fishbowls. Players who succeed in getting a ball into a bowl go home with a fish. Make sure to send home directions on goldfish care and some fish food, as well.

    Goldfish Swap

    • This game requires two teams and open space to run. Each team has a six players and two bowls. The bowl at one end of the field is full of paper goldfish. The bowl at the other end is empty. Each player must "hook" a goldfish with a straw, run to the empty bowl and deposit the fish, then run back to his team. The team of players that completes the transfer first, wins.

    Online Games

    • Goldfish fans can find games featuring their favorite creature online. The National Institute for Environmental Sciences kids' page features a simple game called "Swim with the Goldfish" that can be played by the youngest computer user. The game reminds users that all living things require clean water to survive. Pass the computer mouse over the image of a smiling goldfish in a bowl, and the little fellow will follow your every move.
