Fun Teen Games

Teens have to do homework, deal with school politics and manage Mom and Dad's expectations. Their free time is important because it allows them to relieve stress and unwind. Games are the perfect solution. Games come in many different styles, involve your friends and, most important, bring some much-needed fun into your life.
  1. Improv Games

    • Used by improvisational actors to sharpen their skills, improv games are a natural source of entertainment. Yes, And is a comical game for witty minds. The game works by creating an impromptu collaborative story. The game has one rule: acceptance. For instance, player one says, "My dad really wants me to get a job." Player two responds: "Yes, and he keeps asking me to hire you." The game continues until everyone has had a turn or the players have exhausted their ideas.

    Party Games

    • Party games add fun to your event while encouraging guests to enjoy each other's company. The classic game of Charades encourages creativity and allows everyone to work toward a common goal. Variations include themes, such as famous people and players working in teams. Another party game, Blindfold Cottonball, challenges players wearing blindfolds to transfer cotton balls from one bowl to another the fastest. Play the game in teams for large groups, and give winners a prize.

    Field Games

    • Field games are competitive, noisy and often messy, so they are best-suited for outdoor play. Balloon Train Race is a team competition. You'll need to set up a start and finish line. Runners can race as a team of two or more players. Instead of running individually, players can only move in tandem, with an air-filled balloon wedged between them.

    Teamwork Games

    • Teamwork games are fun and you get to learn a lot about the people you play with. Human Knot is a game for 10 or more players. You begin by standing in a circle and joining hands with the person across from you. This creates a tangle of arms that you must then unravel without releasing your partners' hands. In the game, Group Juggle, you also begin in a circle. The object of this game is to toss several balls between players in sequence. Challenge the team to juggle as many balls as possible.

    Ice Breakers

    • Ice breakers are games that focus on getting to know other players. They can be used in any setting where teenagers are meeting for the first time. The Famous People/Cities game is a group guessing game. The game begins with an index card taped to your back with the name of a famous person or place (e.g. Michael Jackson, Paris). You must discover the name by asking other players 'Yes' or 'No' questions. The A to Z Freeze game is ideal for school settings. Your class recites the alphabet in unison until the leader calls "Stop." Then. the group shares something they are looking forward to, starting with the last letter spoken. If the group stopped on "S", you might say, "Singing in glee club."
