LEGO Rock Band
Though the "Rock Band" and "Guitar Hero" games may offer drum simulation, "LEGO Rock Band" is the only one rated for kids, rather than teenagers. The game was released for the Nintendo DS, Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles. The combination of the LEGO toy franchise and the familiar "Rock Band" interface provide an experience that is appropriate for younger players, yet still allows an accurate rhythmic experience.
Drum Beats
The Primary Games website provides "Drum Beats," a game that shows you a rhythm you must emulate on a virtual set of hand drums. Use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard to play the corresponding sides of the drums. Pay attention to the drums played and the timing to correctly match the computer's beat. The game is free of charge.
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
"Donkey Kong Jungle Beat," a platform game, was released for the Nintendo Gamecube in 2005 and the Wii in 2004. The Gamecube version comes with a controller shaped like bongo drums. Hit the left drum to make Donkey Kong move left, and the right drum to make the character move right. Hit both drums to make the character jump, and clap your hands for various results. Use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to emulate the same hits used on the bongo drums.
Drum Session
"Drum Session," an online Flash game on the Games Games website, provides a virtual drumset. Click on the specific part of the set to hear its sound, or use the corresponding number above it on your keyboard for the same effect. The simplistic interface allows players to enjoy a drumset without a specific goal in mind. The game is free of charge.
