Halloween Games for Kids to Win Prizes

Though Halloween may be the scariest night of the year, it can also be the most fun -- especially for kids with a taste for tricks and treats. According to Halloween Web, people spend an average of 2 billion dollars on candy alone for the popular holiday. But don't just give your treats away -- make the kids earn them with some Halloween games.
  1. Ghost Hunt

    • Decorate some small, globe-shaped lollipops by first wrapping them in white tissue paper. Tie off the paper with a ribbon, and draw a ghostly face on to each of the prepared lollipops. Hide these "ghosts" around the play area. Gather the players around a starting point and hand each of them a flashlight. Turn off all the house lights, and instruct the players to start looking for "ghosts." The players all get to keep the ghosts they find.

    Frankenstein Shuffle

    • Demonstrate to the children how to walk like Frankenstein, with knees straight and arms held out past your chest. Then, line all of the players up horizontally at a starting line. When you say "Go," the children all have to walk like Frankenstein all the way to the finish line at the other end of the play area. Keep a close eye on the kids to see if anyone breaks from character. The first player to walk past the finish line as Frankenstein wins and gets a prize.

    Build Scarecrows

    • Gather up some items people typically use to make scarecrows: newspaper, broom handles, old clothes and some burlap sacks. Create three sets of about five to 10 items and hide the materials around the party space. Divide the players into three teams. Each of the teams gets a list of the items needed to build a scarecrow. When you say "Go," the teammates all work together to find the items and build the scarecrow before any other team. The first team to do this gets prizes.

    Pumpkin Roll Contest

    • Place two large pumpkins on the ground, about 6 feet away from each other. Group the kids up into two teams and have each team stand single-file behind a pumpkin. When you say "Go," the first players in each team have to roll the pumpkins on the ground to a finish line and back to their teams. The next players in line do the same. This continues until all of one team's players have successfully rolled the pumpkin back and forth from the finish line. That team wins and receives Halloween treats.
