Easter Egg Race
Easter-themed races are meant to entertain children 6 to 12 years old. Paint an equal number of eggs in two different colors (six red and six blue, for example) and divide children into teams. Place each color in a line from one end of the room to the other. Line each team up and give the first child a spoon. The first player spoons up the egg and carries it to a basket on the other side of the room. The second player does the same, then the third, until one team has carried all its eggs to the basket. Younger children may have trouble carrying an egg on a spoon. The race can be modified to allow them to balance it in their hands instead.
Indoor Easter Games
If you're looking for indoor Easter games, Easter Twenty Questions is one ideal for children 6 to 12. The leader begins by saying "I'm thinking of something" and the other players try to guess what it is by asking no more than 20 questions that require a yes, no, or I don't know answer. A similar game is Easter Clue, in which the leader thinks of a person, place or thing related to Easter. Instead of the other children asking questions, however, the leader provides them with the clues. If the leader is thinking about a bunny, for example, big ears might be a clue.
Active Easter Games
Easter games that provide physical activity are ideal for children aged 6 to 12. Play Easter tag by hopping instead of running. Egg toss isn't as physically demanding, but still provides some exercise and fresh air. For this game, draw an egg or a basket on a large piece of cardboard and cut a hole in the center. Set the cardboard on a chair to keep it upright or hang it from a clothesline to make it more challenging. Cut out a few smaller holes instead for older kids. Children can toss plastic eggs or egg-shaped bean bags through the holes.
Favorite Games with an Easter Theme
Favorite games for children 6 to 12 years old can be adapted with an Easter theme. Use Easter-themed pictures in Pictionary, for example. A six year old can easily guess or draw eggs or bunnies, but a 12 year old might want more challenging clues. Other classic games you can modify for this age group are Pin the tail on the Bunny, Easter Bingo (using Easter symbols instead of numbers) or Easter Musical Chairs (hop instead of walk and play Easter-themed music).
