Fun Games That Brothers & Sisters Can Play

If you have both male and female kids, sometimes it can be hard to come up with an engaging activity or game for brothers and sisters to play. You want to find a game that is gender neutral and keeps their interest for more than a few minutes. You can use the following games for parties as well as keeping siblings occupied.
  1. Board Games

    • A host of board games on the market can be played together by brothers and sisters. The old standards such as chess and checkers and the new games based on the latest kid television characters or toys come to mind. Select a game that is age appropriate for all the players. Also, if there are more than two players, find a board game that works well for multiple players so that no one has to sit out.

    Marshmallow Tower

    • Marshmallow Tower practices a child's building ability as they use their fine motor skills to see who can build the tallest tower in an allotted amount of time. The brothers and sisters should each be given the same number of toothpicks and marshmallows. You can use both big and small marshmallows for the task. Set a time limit, such as five minutes, and say "go." The person with the tallest tower wins.

    Crazy Ping Pong

    • This game can be played with as few as two players, but should be played with an even amount of people on each side. After removing the net on the ping-pong table, instruct the players to kneel or bend down so that their faces are even with the back of each edge. One ping-pong table is placed in the middle. Players must use only their breath to blow the ping-pong ball off the other end of the table to score a point. If the ball goes off the side, then it is dropped back in the middle to re-start. You can make the game even more interesting by playing with multiple balls on the table. Select a score such as 10, 15 or 21 to determine a winner.

    Egg Spoon Obstacle Course

    • Create an obstacle course of various tasks such as running, hopping on one foot, jumping over an area or going down a slide. The brothers and sisters must complete the obstacle course while balancing an egg on a spoon the entire time. (Therefore they should only need two legs and one arm to perform any one task.) You can hard boil the eggs ahead of time if you are worried about making too much of a mess. The people who complete the course the fastest are the winners. This game combines both gross motor movements such as running, and fine motor movements such as holding a spoon for both brothers and sisters.
