Icebreaker Circle
This game is an awesome icebreaker for a youth group that is newly formed or whose members don't know one another very well. The concept is quite simple; everyone sits in a circle, with one person being tagged as "it." Basically, this person goes around the circle and asks other people "Honey, do you love me?" The person must respond "Honey, I love you but I just can't smile." The first person to smile then becomes "it." This is game is effective and enjoyable, without any religious undertones.
Miss and Mister Inner Beauty
This hilarious youth activity can be done on a Sunday when a long period is allotted to games for youth. "Miss and Mister Inner Beauty" is a beauty pageant with a twist: The winner is not the most physically attractive, but the one who is able to exemplify the most inner beauty. Have young people (the "contestants") write speeches, recite poems or choose passages from your chosen religious text to discuss in front of others. The group as a whole can vote on which girl and boy have shown the most inner beauty on that Sunday.
Blind Man Walking
This Sunday youth game is fun for all ages, but it also teaches an important lesson about having trust and putting faith in your fellow man. The leader should arrange chairs in an obstacle course pattern either outside or in a large room, and choose one person as the "voice." Only the voice is allowed to speak. All the other youths in the group line up and close their eyes. Using only her words, the voice must lead the group through the obstacles to the end of the course, without any members of the group opening their eyes.
Encouragement for All
Although this Sunday youth game is less physical than the others, it provides a good alternative when the youths need some respite from a busy week or a gloomy day. Have everyone sit in a circle and give each a piece of paper and a pen. Every person has 30 seconds to write three nice and kind adjectives about the person on their right. After 30 seconds, everyone must pass their papers to the left, and do the same thing. The game continues until the papers reach the youth about whom the kind remarks were written. It is amazing how fast a group will come together when facing the kindness of their peers.
