Original Squash
The original version of the game is played between two players. The players take turns bouncing a ball against a wall. This ball must make contact with the wall above the service line and below the out line, then land in the opposing player's section. If a player fails to do this, the opposing player is awarded a point. The first player to nine points is the winner.
Doubles Squash
Doubles Squash is played with two teams of two, rather than just two players. The teams take turns hitting the ball just as the individual players would, and each team member takes turns serving the ball in succession. When a team reaches 13 points, they can decide how many more points will be needed to win the game--five, three or two.
Hardball Doubles Squash
Hardball Doubles Squash is identical to Doubles Squash, with the only difference being the ball used. The hardball version of the game uses a harder rubber ball, which provides for faster play. Additionally, hardball doubles courts are usually larger than the normal squash courts.
Squash Tennis
Squash Tennis is played with a ball and rackets that are closer to tennis equipment than squash equipment. The player can either bounce the ball against the back wall, or on the floor in front of the service line. The players usually stand against the wall rather than the back of their section, giving them a greater change to hit the ball. The scoring is identical to doubles squash, in which the first player to 13 decides how many points will be needed to win.
