Kentucky Derby
This board game based around the Kentucky Derby horse race was originally released in 1938 and featured a slim cardboard playing area, built to resemble a racetrack, in addition to five plastic horses. These plastic horses slid along the racetrack via slots in the cardboard, making them look as if they were racing. Players raced the horses by first selecting an entrant and then using a spinner to determine which horse moved on each turn of the game. The first horse to cross the marked finish line won the game for his player.
Demolition Derby
This variation on the derby car racing concept sees the player attempting to make it across a car park in her vehicle, taking out opposition cars in the process. This top-down online game features only one screen, with the player controlling her car using the keyboard's directional buttons. The player must dodge the attempts by other vehicles to bash her car and ram opponents herself to take them out of the race. Successive levels increase the number of vehicles onscreen at once.
Derby Racing
This simplistic online horse racing game finds players taking the reins of a horse in a derby race. The player is competing against a bunch of other entrants controlled by the computer in an attempt to make it to the finishing line first. To get his horse to move, the player must alternate pressing the left and right directional arrows on his keyboard. He's got to be careful though, because pressing the same button twice in a row will trip up his horse.
Downhill Derby
This online Flash game features an array of bizarre vehicles taking part in a downhill race. The player begins by selecting one of several racers to control, before choosing which of the courses on offer to attempt. During the race, the player uses the keyboard's directional buttons to guide her vehicle around the screen; the player should look out for other racers, while avoiding the obstacles placed in her car's way. Pressing the space button allows the player to leap over an obstacle.
