Pirate Fighting Games

Pirates are eternally popular on screen, in literature and even in video games, so it's little surprise that a variety of action-packed pirate-based titles have appeared across multiple gaming mediums. Some of these games can be found online and are played for free through a user's Web browser, while others appear in other forms, such as board games. In some games, players assume the role of a pirate warrior, while in others, the idea is to fight against pirates.
  1. Pirate's Cove

    • "Pirate's Cove" is a pirate fighting board game released in 2003 by the Days of Wonder company. Between three and five players compete against one another to rule the seven seas and become the most notorious pirate around. To gain this infamy, players must capture a series of islands found around the legendary Pirate's Cove. These islands strengthen a player's ship crew, but each captain must also contend with enemy pirates who'll want to take islands off her hands.

    Prince Versus Pirate

    • This online title is a side-scrolling platform-based game which takes place on a pirate vessel. The player controls a good-natured prince, out to defeat a bunch of monkey pirates. To control the prince, the player guides the character using the keyboard directional buttons, while the space bar activates the prince's sword. The player can, at a few points along the level, choose which direction to proceed in, but should beware of spikes, banana skins and the marauding pirates themselves, which will reduce the player's health total.

    Endless Pirate Battle

    • This online shooting game features simplistic gameplay and graphics. Placed in charge of a cannon, the player must fend off the attacks of pirate vessels, which appear on the sea on either side. As the pirates approach, the player must aim her cannon to fire at each pirate. Pressing the "A" and "D" keyboard buttons allows the cannon to strafe from side to side, while clicking the mouse fires the cannonballs. The longer the player stays alive, the higher her score will be at the game's conclusion.

    Pirates Versus Ninja

    • This online platform game is also side-scrolling, and puts the player in the role of a solitary ninja, out to battle pirates. The player is given an objective at the start of each level; for example, he might be asked to kill 10 pirates. The player uses his sword to attack pirates as they appear along the level, which is set on a ship. Players should watch out though, because it only takes one hit for the ninja to be slain.
