Build a scavenger hunt team with groups of two to four players. Select the players based on age and relationships. Stagger the ages throughout the teams to set a level playing field. Place strangers in the same group to build new relationships or place friends in the same group for a comfortable game.
Draw the teams randomly by placing every name in a hat and drawing individuals into groups. This method leaves no room for bias and is very effective for groups of all sizes.
Build teams based on natural rivalries. If people are engaged in friendly trash-talking before the event, place them on opposite teams to increase the intensity of the game.
Build the teams based on work relationships. Scavenger hunts are used as a team-building exercise to build trust and relationships among employees. Place people who work together on a daily basis in the same groups.
For hunts that take place in a large area, build the teams based on athletic ability. Place fast people on separate teams to create an even playing field.
