Handmade Pool Chalk Holder

Chalk is necessary to cut down on the harsh friction that may be present in the game of pool, as players often must be able to smoothly and cleanly use their cues to make contact with the cue ball. Pool chalk is sold in small squares and is often left on the edge of the table when people are playing, for easy access in between shots. However, due to their small size, these pieces of chalk are often lost or misplaced. One way to keep all of the small squares of chalk together is to make a chalk holder, a place where it can always be kept for players on the pool table.

Instructions

    • 1

Take a 6-inch by 6-inch piece of origami paper. Make two equal-length folds through the middle of the sheet, so they are perpendicular to each other. Fold all of the corners of the origami sheet into the middle to form a square. Fold the right side and the left side to the middle to form a rectangle. Fold the bottom and top edges of the rectangle together to form a smaller square.

    • 2

Unfold the paper entirely except for two of the corners that meet in the middle. Small squares from the folds you previously made will be visible in the corners of the shape you just made. Push the two top corners in and fold the top and right and left sides of the origami up as you do this. Do this exact same thing on the bottom part of this origami sheet. You will have now formed an origami box.

    • 3

Place a piece of tape in the bottom of the box and a few pieces of tape along the bottom. While the origami is not supposed to come undone, this will ensure it stays together for a long period of time. This box should hold at least four pieces of chalk to keep beside your pool cues and pool table.
