How to Design Your Own Castle Game

If your children love fairy tales and stories of knights, lords, kings and queens, then play free computer games that will allow them to create their own castle. They can choose the stone, the design, the roof and other features that will make their castle unique and tweaked to their preferences.

Instructions

  1. Build a Castle

    • 1

Visit Highlights Kids "Build a Castle" website (see Resources).

    • 2

Click on a setting icon for your castle. You will see them displayed on the opening screen. You can choose a beach scene, a snowy mountain scene or a green mountain scene.

    • 3

Click on the "Stone Parts" button.

    • 4

Click on a stone feature from the menu that expands on your screen. Move the part -- such as a stone column -- to the main screen. Click on the screen to release the part.

    • 5

Repeat Step 3 until you have built the base infrastructure of your castle. Move the parts around by clicking on them and dragging them into a new place on the screen.

    • 6

Click on the "Ice Parts" button to choose ice features to build your castle.

    Castle Wars

    • 7

Visit the "Castle Wars" game website (see Resources).

    • 8

Click the "Single Player" button, followed by the "Beginner" button. You can try an advanced game once you learn how to play. You will be trying to beat the computer in building a castle using a card game.

    • 9

Review the cards at the bottom of your screen. They will feature a number in the top right-hand corner of the card, which represents the number of a certain material needed to build the castle. The card also will feature a symbol of the material needed, such as a brick, in the top left-hand corner of the card. At the bottom of the card you will see the "card action," which could be something like "castle + 20." This is the way you would interpret this card: It will take 18 bricks to play this card, but if you do, you will add 20 feet to your castle's height. Get familiar with interpreting the cards before you play.

    • 10

Click on a card at the bottom of the screen to play it. The computer will move the card to the master deck and perform the action of the card. If you cannot play any cards, then hit the "Control" button as you click on a card to discard it. You will receive a new one.

    • 11

Check your quantity of bricks in the top left-hand box on the screen. One reason why you would not be able to play a card is if you do not have enough bricks in storage.

    Castle Builder II

    • 12

Go to the "Castle Builder II" game website.

    • 13

Click on the link labeled "Click here to play."

    • 14

Wait for the game to load, then click the red "Play Game" button.

    • 15

Drag the different elements of the castle to the screen and release them by releasing your mouse. Some examples of these elements are stone walls, castle roofs, trees, flags and windows. You can arrange the components of your castle in any way you would like.
