How to Create Your own Civilization Flash Game

If your children are interested in creating countries, cities or towns, then they may enjoy free, online computer games that allow them to build virtual communities. Introduce your children to free, online games that allow them to create a civilization through organizing a village.

Instructions

  1. Celtic Village

      Visit the "Celtic Village" game website (see Resources).

      Click the "One Player " button.

      Click the "Play" button.

      Click on the "Peasant" icons, and then click on the job you would like each one to perform. Your goal is to generate food to support your civilization.

      Click on the female peasants, followed by the "Get a child" option to build the population of your village.

      Continue raising money and food in order to upgrade your home and add more children to your community.

    Urban Planner

      Visit the "Urban Planner" game website (see Resources).

      Look at the amount of money you have to spend on your new civilization. This is located in the box at the top right hand of your screen.

      Click on the features -- such as trees, buildings, offices, stores and museums -- that are listed in the column on the right-hand side of the screen. As you click on these items, they will appear on your map. Your money also will decrease, so keep an eye on the budget box.

      Move around your city features by clicking on them, dragging them to different quadrants of your map and releasing your mouse.

      Delete a city feature by clicking on the "Delete" button at the bottom of the right-hand features column and then immediately clicking on one of the icons on your map.

    Grow Valley

      Visit the "Grow Valley" game website (see Resources).

      Click on the "Play Grow Valley" link. Wait for the game to load. This will take about a minute.

      Click on the "English" button, followed by the "Play" button.

      Read the meanings behind the icons displayed at the bottom of the screen. Float your cursor over each one. Each describes an engineering process required to develop a town or city. The goal of this game is to build your civilization using these processes in order that makes sense and that allows one process to build on the other. For example, you may start by clicking on the icon for "Mathematical chemistry system," which allows for exploring the "basis of science and engineering," followed by the icon for "Mechanical system," which allows for exploring technology skills for industrial purposes.

      Click on the icons. Your civilization will grow as you click on the icons in order.
