Instructions
Decide on what a type of game that you find most enjoyable to play. Think about what games are fun for you personally. Figure out if you want to create a word game, like a crossword puzzle or a simple word search. You could decide on a made-up board game or a trivia game too, depending on what appeals to you the most.
Construct creative playing pieces that you'll need to play your type of game. Be innovative with the makings of your pawns and pieces. Make play-dough pieces for a game board or finger puppets for trivia. If it is a word puzzle you could make your puzzle abound with vibrant colors and decorations. Try to be as imaginative as you can while keeping it appropriate for the kind of game you're making and the age group it will be for.
Invent challenging and interesting rules when creating your game. Concoct easy directions and instructions for playing. Then find a way to raise the bar: add risks and deviating obstructions that will add spice to the game, perhaps where people will need luck or strategy (or both) to finally win. Adding humor or mystery elements will also add fun to your game.
Make this a team project to avoid getting bored when creating your game. Round up a special group of friends or family members. Turn creating the game as an open and social event. Invite people to be part of the brainstorming or construction phases. Sharing ideas, thoughts and opinions will make game-planning enjoyable.
Make finishing touches with the final display of the game. Find a box to keep the game safe and then decorate it according to its theme. This way you can preserve it, identify it and take it out whenever you want. Be creative with the final phase of the game and give it as a gift or keep it as a memento when it's all done.
