Things You'll Need
Instructions
Make the ghillie strips before placing them over the gun. Cut strips of burlap and bundles of jute fibers to a length of 3 feet. Each bundle should be about half an inch thick. Make some burlap bundles, some jute fiber bundles and bundles that are a mixture of the two. Tie the bundles together in the middle with a square knot.
Slip a wire hook into the middle knot when tying the bundles together. This is how you will attach strands to the gun.
Lay the bundles over the gun's barrel and sight. Arrange the bundles so that they cover the barrel and as much of the rest of the gun as possible. Do not cover the trigger or cartridge.
Wrap a rubber band around the gun at each place where you want to hang a piece of ghillie. Keep the rubber bands from the gun's moving parts.
Thread wires attached to the ghillie strips through the rubber bands. This will enable you to remove or add the strips for cleaning or shooting in environments where camouflage isn't required.
Trim the ghillie strips so that they hang evenly from each side of the gun. Test the camouflage by placing in an outdoor environment. Walk a few feet from the gun and see how difficult it is to find. If desired, add more camouflaging to the gun.
