How to Find Out How Many People Won the Lottery

Winners of the lottery take home anywhere from two dollars to several million dollars. The largest lottery games, like Mega Millions or Powerball, have big winners listed on their websites. Every day, there are new winners added and there are winners that stretch back several years. When trying to find out the number of people that have won the lottery, or won a specific state lottery, checking online is the easiest way.

Instructions

  Go to the Mega Million's website. Select "Winner's Gallery". In the options on the page select "Jackpot History". The winners are listed on the "Jackpot History" page.

  Go to the Powerball website. Select "Powerball Numbers". Select "Total Winners" from the options directly above the latest winning numbers. The page that opens will have the total winners of the Powerball. It also has an option for winners based on the tier they won.

  Look at the state lottery website. State lotteries have information directly on the state website, such as the state Lotto or Take 5. Select "Winning Numbers and Payouts". Select the specific game preferred, then select the "search archives" option. Select the preferred time period for payouts. There are choices like winners for the last year or lottery archives. Read the results. If a winner won the lottery, it is listed as a winner. If more than one person won the lottery at a single game, that number is also listed as the winner.
