Instructions for the Cup Stacking Game

The cup stacking game is also called "Sport Stacking," a sport that uses hand and eye coordination to stack and unstack a group of cups in many arrangements. The World Sport Stacking Association (WSSA) promotes sport stacking and tournaments worldwide with children of different nationalities and abilities. Three common types of cup stacking are the 3-3-3 stack, the 3-6-3 stack and the cycle stack. The 3-3-3 and the 3-6-3 stack are the beginning stacking versions and are easy to learn. If you learn these two stacking techniques first, you should then be able to learn the cycle stacking method.

Instructions

    • 1

Place three cups in each stack. You should have a total of three stacks with three cups in each stack (3-3-3). For the 3-6-3 stack, the middle stack will have six cups. Each stack should be lined up from left to right or from right to left. It's up to you. Cups are "up stacked" (stacking the cups up into pyramids) and "down stacked" (putting cups down into nested columns).

    • 2

Stack the cups from side to side. Do not stack cups from front to back or back to front. Once you have stacked all sets of cups, down-stack the cups into their nested columns.

    • 3

Place each stack of cups into a pyramid as fast as you can. Try to beat your friends or the timer if you are timing yourself. Remember, you cannot work on two stacks at one time. You will have to work on each stack individually.
