How to Build a Plinko Game

"The Price is Right" is a popular TV game show that invites contestants on stage to play games for a chance to win cash and prizes. One of those games, Plinko, is a game of chance rather than skill. Contestants drop a disc down the front of a large board that is covered in pegs. Each disc slips through gaps in the pegs to make its way down the board. The slot the disc ends up in at the bottom of the board indicates the prize. You can make your own Plinko game with minimal effort and cost and basic crafting skills.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a base piece for the main board. This should be a sturdy and large rectangle or square piece of heavy cardboard, wood or a cork board.

    • 2

Tilt the board back slightly by leaning it against a wall or an angled support. This will help keep the disc on the board.

    • 3

Measure the width of the disk; a hockey puck would be an ideal shape, size and weight, for example. Mark a pattern on the board for the pegs, or in this case nails, to poke out. The design should be dots in repeating, four-point diamonds. The distance between the diamonds should be slightly larger than the width of the disc, enabling it to fall through. The diamond dots should cover the entire board, all the way to the edges.

    • 4

Nail or glue a small ledge to the bottom of the board to catch the disc when it reaches the bottom. The ledge should be approximately 3 inches wide.

    • 5

Hammer a nail into each dot in the diamonds on the board, or poke it through the cardboard. The nails should be approximately 2 to 3 inches long. Only nail the body of the nails into the board about a third of the way in, enough to catch the disc as it passes through the slots.

    • 6

Paint the entire board in bright colors. Label the bottom row of the board where the disc stops with a variety of points. This will determine the winner of the game. The player whose disk lands on the slot with the most points wins.
