RAT
A remote association test, also known as a RAT, is a word association test that presents three seemingly unrelated words and asks the person being tested to identify the single concept that connects them.
Function
The function of a remote association test is to determine a person's aptitude for creative thought. At least two studies have shown a connection between high RAT scores and a high level of creativity and originality.
Example
The words used in a remote association test must be connected by a single concept while at the same time appearing unconnected. For example: the words "playing," "credit" and "report" appear unrelated. However, they all relate to the word "card."
