Group Meals
Coming together for a moment to eat some tasty food can do wonders for improving the morale of your peers. A sit down lunch or dinner at a restaurant once a month can give you the opportunity to discuss how your group is doing in their lives and to tell them how much you appreciate their hard work. If you can't afford to take them out for a meal, suggest holding a potluck at the workplace. People can bring in their favorite foods and you can all take a break from the work you have to do to enjoy an energy-boosting snack. A new theme every month for the potlucks also can inspire workers to get creative with what they bring in.
Team Retreats
Heading outside of familiar territory can help raise your group's spirits. Plan a retreat to a place that the group may like. Places like theme parks, bowling alleys and skating rinks all work well to relieve stress among workers. You can also try holding a group picnic at a park. There, you can all bring your families and enjoy the time off from work while you get to know your peers better. Bring food and games to keep everyone occupied. If you have the necessary funding, try holding a whole weekend retreat at a ski lodge or up in the mountains camping. Any type of outing, however, works well in boosting morale. Simple outings like taking the workers to get a cup of coffee to going to see a play or movie can boost anyone's mood.
Games and Competitions
If you can't head outside of the work area to boost morale, do it where you work. Hold competitions for the workers to win small prizes like office mugs or a set of tickets to a movie. One humorous competition involves peers coming dressed to work in their ugliest ties or hats. Another way to boost morale involves playing games when you can. Gather your group together and play games like Charades, board games, card games and trivia games to give them a break from their work. Relay games also help breed a spirit of cooperation among your group members. One relay game to boost morale involves two teams racing against each other while holding an egg on a spoon. Reward the winning team with prizes.
