Buy a Vowel
While some contestants might shy away from buying a vowel, it's really a truly underrated method to keep your turn and help yourself solve the puzzle. Buying a vowel costs a flat fee of $250, regardless of how many vowels there are in the puzzle. Buying vowels can instantly illuminate a tricky puzzle. If you solve the puzzle, you don't have to let people know right away. Instead you can keep spinning the wheel, making more money until you have to guess the puzzle. However, be careful, as you could always lose a turn or go bankrupt.
Common Words
Before playing a game of Wheel of Fortune, it helps to briefly go over common three- and four-letter words that come up in the English language. These are the types of words that you are more likely to encounter while playing the game. Get a list of these more common words and say them to yourself over and over. It will also help to look over a list of letters that are more common than others. For example, the letter "z" is clearly less commonly used in words than the letter "a."
Common Titles
Familiarize yourself with common titles and the words that often pop up in those titles. For example, for a title like "Food &Drink" you're just going to be guessing the names of dishes, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. This type of puzzle title won't have verbs, question words and is less likely to have prepositions. On the other hand, for puzzle titles such as"Star &Role," you're likely to get a word like "as" in the answer, such as "Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry." Get comfortable with all types of puzzle titles and know what to expect.
