How to Record Games in 3D View

You can record your 3D game play on your PC if you have game play capture software installed on your computer. Several different types of capture software are available, but they all function in essentially the same way. Afterward, you can use recordings of your 3D games to create movies of game play for use as tutorials or to create game-based entertainment films of your victories and defeats.

  Download or purchase and then install audio/video capture software on your PC. Open-source shareware and professional versions are available online. Fast Cap Pro, available from qweas.com and ACA Capture Pro from acasystems.com, are good programs for PC game play capture.

  Set up the capture software to record your game play. The software will record your game play in real time as you play. Select the frames per second to record. The FPS is the resolution for video recording. The higher the FPS, the more frames are recorded per second of game play that is being recorded. Set a higher FPS for higher-quality movies.

  Select the file folder on your computer hard drive where you want to save the recorded 3D game play movie. Select a folder by choosing "browse" on the software menu option to save the movie. Another option is to create a new folder to store the movie. Most software programs default to the folder created during installation.

  Familiarize yourself with the software hotkeys by reading the user documents that accompany the software. Function keys like F6, F7, F8 and F9 are typically assigned as hotkeys for these functions.

  Begin your 3D PC video game and select "record" to begin recording your movie. Audio/video capture software will have default keys to begin recording, pause and stop recording.

  Save your 3D view game movie with a unique file name. Audio/video capture software usually saves game play movies in the AVI format. An AVI file is easy to edit in any movie editing software.
