Determine the number of sides on the die. For example, you use a die with six sides.
Determine what numbers you want to come up and how many times they appear on the die. In the example, you need to roll either a four or a six, so you have two chances on the die to roll either.
Divide the number of chances on the die you have to roll correctly by the number of sides of the die. In the example, two divided by six equals 0.3333 or 33.33 percent. Therefore, you have a 33.33 percent chance of rolling a four or six.
Subtract the probability of rolling correctly from one. In the example, 1 minus 0.3333 equals 0.6667 or a 66.67 percent chance that you are unsuccessful.
