Things You'll Need
Instructions
Set an allotted play area for the scavenger hunt to take place. For smaller children, this may be restricted to a home or yard, but the game area for older teenagers could extend to local parks or even around town.
Decorate the area (if limiting area to home and yard) to match the Western theme. Scatter sand to create a desert feel and place cactus plants around the area.
Create cardboard cutouts of saloon-style doors to position in doorways. The doors are opened through the middle, with the flaps opening to the sides to let the individual enter.
Incorporate other Western paraphernalia, such as cowboy hats on coat racks, chaps hanging in closets and horse stuffed animals placed around the house.
Create clues relating to the Western-style elements or using Western terminology. For example, to lead the players to the bathroom, write a clue that says, "This is where a cowboy would go after too many glasses of whiskey." You could also right more obvious clues, such as, "Check inside this hat worn by cowboys."
Create the clues so they lead players to the end of the game where a prize is hidden.
