Free Leadership Teamwork Activities

Teamwork is important to people in positions of power and leadership. Teamwork includes effective communication and problem-solving skills. It is important to hone such skills in a group environment to avoid arguments and disagreements. Such discrepancies can deter the audience from accepting or even recognizing the lesson or task. Leadership teamwork activities should be used to develop and strengthen the bond and understanding between members of an organization.
  1. Survival Scenario

    • Survival scenarios are a communication, decision-making and problem-solving activity. To play, identify a crisis scenario such as a fire or plane crash. Divide into smaller groups or work together as one large group to identify the top 12 most-useful items for survival. Coming to a consensus on items will involve communication and problem-solving skills. Although a score is not necessary as the goal is to promote team building, you may score answers against expert opinion.

    M &M

    • This activity requires a bowl of small, colorful candies such as M&M's, Skittles or Smarties. Gather the group in a circle. Identify a topic or question specific to each color of candy. Passing the bowl around the circle, each player must pick one candy and respond to the corresponding color's question or topic. Suggestions for topics include recognizing someone in the group or identifying a favorite item and why. This will allow for group members to begin communicating and learn more about each other.

    Mine Field

    • Mine field is a game of communication, trust and patience. In this game, members are paired off into teams of two. One person is blindfolded while the other is the guide. Items such as balls or cones are than scattered around the area as mines. The goal is for the blindfolded player to make his way through the "mine field" solely on the advice of the partner.
