Select a Style
Pick a friend with super-short hair to be the judge, or determine the judge by pulling a name from a hat or bag. Give the judge a notebook and pen to keep score. Keep the scoring simple. Jude in three categories. The first will be creativity (Which is the coolest?), the second will be execution (Did they follow the directions?) and the third will be the overall look (Which look would you most like to have?). Divide the girls into teams of two. One girl will be the stylist and the other will be the client. Decide on a theme for the hairstyle, like '80s punk, a wedding look, trendy cool or anything else you can think of. Set aside enough time for the style to be accomplished and the judge will say when time is up. All teams will reveal the style while the judge picks a winner. Use two judges if you have an even number of girls. Take turns rotating judges per round.
Look-a-Like
Have your teams choose a celebrity they want to try to look like. Use clip-in extensions, hot rollers and anything you may need to achieve the perfect look that resembles your celebrity. The judges will determine the winner based on whose look came the closest to the style they chose.
Add another element to the game if you want by having the opposite team try to guess the celebrity of the opposite team. Award bonus points to the team who guesses correctly. Use a scale of 1-10 when judging to keep it simple.
Funny Business
Girls like to laugh and have fun, just as much as they like to look pretty. Try a variation on the competition, but this time flip the switch. Have the teams create the funniest hairstyle. The team that makes the judges laugh the hardest is the the winner. You can choose a theme for each team, or have the team come up with the theme themselves --- just as long as it's funny. Some ideas may include: super-nerdy, old lady looks, outrageous runway hair, etc. You can even give each team an item they have to use in the hairstyle if you want. Give them a small toy or an unconventional item, like a spoon. It's up to the judges how they want to play this round.
