How to Put a Pin Through a Balloon Without Popping it

You may have seen a magician poke a balloon with a sharp pin without popping it and wonder how he is able to perform that seemingly impossible task. However, the secret behind this magic trick is much easier than you think. You just need three household items and a bit of practice to perform this trick. With practice and mastery, you can dazzle your friends.

Things You'll Need

Balloon
Pin
Scotch tape

Instructions

  Inflate the balloon. Avoid over-inflating or under-inflating the balloon and use your judgment on the "right" size.

  Tear a small piece of Scotch tape approximately 1 inch long and tape it on the middle side of the balloon. It does not matter whether you tape it on the left or the right side.

  Prick the balloon with the pin where the tape overlaps it. This may require multiple attempts before you are successful. You can start piercing through the balloon slowly or in a very quick manner. It is up to you to find the correct pressure.

  Perform the trick again to gain both experience and mastery. Like the common cliche goes, practice makes perfect.
