Multiplayer Trivia Games

Groups of friends and family often get together and test each other's knowledge with random trivia questions. Trivia games, especially those suited for more than one player, allow those with a competitive edge to keep score of who knows the most. Trivia games come in a variety of media including board games, travel games and video games.
  1. Trivia Board Games: Trivial Pursuit and SceneIt?

    • One of the classic trivia board games is Trivial Pursuit. This game requires players (or teams of players) to answer tricky questions from several different categories including sports, science, history and literature. Many incarnations of this game exist; it is constantly updated to provide for the most recent trivia questions.

SceneIt? is another popular trivia board game. This game utilizes a DVD player and a board game. It tests players' television and movie trivia and uses a combination of question cards and movie clips.

Travel Trivia Games: Trivial Pursuit Travel Edition and Road Trip QuizWit

    • Trivia games are not bound to a tabletop or even a family room. Travel editions of Trivial Pursuit and other travel trivia games such as Road Trip QuizWit allow a car full of people to pass the time traveling by answering trivia questions. The games work much like their board-game counterparts, but the design is meant to suit cramped travel conditions, making them ideal for long road trips or plane rides.

Trivia Video Games: Buzz! Quiz TV and Smarty Pants

    • Consumers with a video game system such as the Nintendo Wii or the PlayStation 3 can enjoy trivia games on their television screens. For example, Buzz! Quiz TV, available for the PlayStation 3, allows players to choose an avatar and utilizes a special buzzer-controller to answer questions. Smarty Pants, available for the Nintendo Wii, has similar features. Players shake their Wii remotes to "buzz" in. Incarnations of SceneIt? and Trivia Pursuit are also available on most consoles, including the Xbox 360.
